MBE/WBE Certification

Q. Who qualifies for MBE/WBE Status? 
A. A small business establishment that is at least 51% owned and controlled by one or more socially and economically disadvantage individuals and/or women. Management and daily business operations are controlled by one or more such individuals. Members of the following groups are presumed to be socially and economically disadvantaged: African Americans, American Indians, Asian Indians, Caucasian Females, Hispanics, Companies enrolled in the SBA, 8-A program, Individuals Certified by the SBA's eligibility standards.

Q. Who administers the MBE/WBE Program in Waterloo?
A. The City of Waterloo's Community Development Office has a Contract Compliance Office who assists MEB/WBE owners in accomplishing the program goals. The Contract Compliance Office's major responsibility is to identify and certify Waterloo MBE/WBE's and match their capabilities with contracts and procurements in this area.

A. Call or stop in and we will be glad to discuss the Application process with you. You will be required to provide detailed information on your firm and the type of work or service you provide.
