SPARK WATERLOO

City to Host SPARK WATERLOO to Promote Community Pride & Generate Big Ideas

(Waterloo, IA 6/2/2021) SPARK WATERLOO is a free community event to bring residents together to share positive stories and transformative ideas for the future of Waterloo. SPARK WATERLOO will take place on Tuesday, June 8, from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM, at the Riverloop Amphitheatre, 225 Commercial Street.

In this fast moving event, ten community members will share their story or idea in five minutes or less—and we guarantee applause! SPARK is part of the Community Vision 2030 planning process for the future of Waterloo.

Quovadis ‘Pastor Q.’ Marshall of Hope City Church and former KWWL television anchor Tara Thomas will co-host the event.  The names of the ten presenters will be revealed in the days leading up to the event on the City’s Facebook page City of Waterloo, Iowa – City Hall. The audience will be invited to vote for their favorite big idea at the end of the presentations with a special announcement by Mayor Quentin Hart wrapping up the evening.

“Why SPARK, you might ask,” says Mayor Hart.  “Because one great idea leads to another, and when we share what is great about our community, the energy SPARKS bigger, better and more impactful conversations and actions. I can’t wait to hear what people are dreaming about for our city!”

Doors/Seating opens at 5:30 with presentations beginning at 6:00pm. Refreshments will be available for purchase. Tickets are not required for entry, but registrations are appreciated and can be made through the City’s website www.cityofwaterlooiowa.com/government/community-vision
