Mayor Hart Calls for Investigation of Alleged Employee Misconduct
(Waterloo, IA February 21, 2022) - The City of Waterloo, Iowa became aware of the allegations against Recreation Superintendent, Mark Gallagher on February 1, 2022 and took immediate action to see if there was evidence to substantiate claims of financial improprieties.
On Thursday, February 3, Mr. Gallagher was placed on administrative leave. Mr. Gallagher resigned on February 11, 2022.
Mayor Hart has ordered a full criminal investigation by the Waterloo Police Department. The investigation is ongoing. The State Auditor’s Office and RSM US LLP, the City’s auditing firm, have been notified of the investigation.
