Snow Emergency

The City of Waterloo has declared a Snow Emergency as of 5:00 PM, WEDNESDAY, December 21^st until 12:00 PM SATURDAY, DECEMBER 24^TH. Snow routes are in effect for this period of time. Residents are encouraged to move cars off streets to allow snow removal crews to clear city streets.

Citizens are reminded that trucks spread salt and sand. Please maintain a safe distance (50 feet) back from snowplows. Please be courteous and allow our crews to do their work safely.

City Hall and the Carnegie Annex building:
Will be closed to the public on Thursday, December 22nd due to emergency with limited services available and will remain closed through Monday, December 26 for the holidays. Residents are encouraged to postpone in-person city business until next week. Those with pressing business should call before venturing out to make sure the department and personnel are available. Essential services will continue. The Waterloo Police Department offices will remain open. Those needing to file a police report can do so using the website at www.waterloopolice.com.

Garbage Collection:
As of Noon on 12/21/2022, garbage pick up WILL be running Thursday & Friday routes on Thursday as long as the landfill stays open.

Please have your cart out at by 6am as we will not have time for return visits during the Holiday pickups.

6 AM Update for 12-22-22:

City of Waterloo Garbage Trucks are running Thursday & Friday Routes today. The landfill is closing early due to winds so we are doing double work in half the time. We will not have time to make return visits for garbage not out on time.

Republic Recycling:

Republic Services WILL not run routes on Thursday, December 24th.
Republic Services will NOT run routes on Friday, Dec 23rd for the curbside recycling.
On Monday, Dec 26th, Republic Services will be running the routes delayed from Friday, Dec 23rd.
On Tuesday, Dec 27th, Republic Services will be running the delayed Monday & Tuesdays usual routes.
On Wednesday, December 28th, Republic Services will finish the routes missed on Thursday, December 24th,

Cedar Valley SportsPlex:
Will close early at 7:30 PM on 12/21
Will be closed on Thursday (12/22) & Friday (12/23). They will reopen on Saturday (12/24) from 6 AM to 2 PM and be closed on Sunday (12/25) for Christmas.

Young Arena:

Closed Thursday (12/22) & Friday (12/23)

We have added (2) PUBLIC SKATING sessions on Saturday 12/24, 10:30am-12:00pm. & 1:00pm-2:30pm.

We will be CLOSED Sunday (12/25) for Christmas Day and reopen Monday 12/26 with available PUBLIC SKATE sessions scheduled for 12:00pm-1:30pm & 2:15pm-3:45pm.

Will be closed on Thursday, December 22nd due to weather.
Will be closed 12/23/2022 through 12/26/2022 for the Christmas holiday.

Waterloo Center for the Arts and Phelps Youth Pavilion:

Waterloo Center for the Arts and Phelps Youth Pavilion will be closed tomorrow and Friday due to weather. We will also be closed over the weekend in observance of the holiday. We will resume our regular public hours next week.
