The City of Waterloo, prior to Covid, offered residents the opportunity to learn about city government by participating in an eight week course called Waterloo Works! Residents Academy was an informative, interactive program designed to give Waterloo residents an up-close look at how their City government works. The Residents Academy was free to those who live or work in Waterloo.

The program is designed to cultivate understanding and enhance the relationship between city government and its residents. Participants will gain knowledge and insight through discussions, demonstrations and site visits. In addition, the academy gives city staff the opportunity to receive community feedback.

 Below is what the schedule was in 2019.

Participants must be at least 16 years of age and be a resident of the City of Waterloo. The academy is not intended for children. Class size is limited to 30 individuals.
