Are business incentives available to existing businesses in the City of Waterloo?
Yes. The City of Waterloo places the highest priority on helping existing businesses. Your project will be handled in a confidential manner and he will coordinate with other local and state funding agencies to maximize programs on your behalf.

Is the City of Waterloo serviced with Fiber Optic and High Speed Internet Connectivity?
CenturyLink and Mediacom provide business with the necessary fiber optic and high speed connectivity. A Municipal Telecommunications Utility plans to build an open access system to further enhance existing services provided by both CenturyLink and Mediacom.
What type of business assistance can the City of Waterloo provide for new retail development at the Crossroad shopping area?

Is there any assistance for remodeling older buildings within Waterloo?
Assistance is available through grants and investment tax credits; especially on older historically eligible buildings The City of Waterloo has tax abatements available for added tax base improvements within the TIF Districts, and within the Consolidated Urban Revitalization Area (CURA). Is there any assistance for hiring and training employees?
Yes, awards are based on new jobs created and expected annual payroll. Use of award includes training expense, travel and material, trainer's fees etc. This is a State of Iowa program administered locally by Hawkeye Community College.
